Most Altians are pale. it is their natural tone b/c it lacks pigment. The originals needed to concentrate to alter or keep changed characteristics like skin tone, therefore they found it harder to concentrate on work or other things, so most just let their skin be pale. they saw no need to darken it unless that is how they wanted to express themselves even though it took more effort. Skin is the largest organ in the body, so it takes a surprising amount of concentration to keep it an even tone. Altima Exaltium's climate is condusive to a lighter skin, so if the originals did not concentrate, they would slowly pale out.

The decendants of those who chose dark skin are dark as well, permanately, but they can slowly change it (a bit) like their eyes, but again, it takes a lot of energy.
There are ALL skins of Altians, heck, even blue skinned ones.
But the large majority are white.
