To reiterate the Tom Nook part:
Apparently he used to be a more carefree person---much like K.K. Slider, saying things such as "It's not about the money" and "I do it for the joy". After being "hardened" by the City long before the Animal Crossing series began Tom Nook became the greedy raccoon we know him as today... The guy who forced me into buying his house, put me into debt for buying said house, and forcing me into his labor just to earn hardly a thousand dollars that wasn't even lO PERCENT OF THE $l8,OOO MORGAGE I HAD TO PAY ON THE HOUSE C'MON NOOK WHY DO YOU DO ME DIRTY LIKE THAT HOMIE?????
