"All too often the greatest tyrants of history cloak themselves not in darkness but instead in pure burning light, a terrible blinding light that burns all those considered impure..."

Not all villans are dark and outwardly sinster, as is the case of Templar. I deliberately used colors that were very light/warm, to create an eerily ethereal villan.

In real life, and in the stories that really speak true to the human spirit, villans almost never see themselves as the "bad guys". Nor are all villans one dimentional characters who do bad things to be bad, thus I crafted Templar to serve as such a character. That is more chilling to me then any card-carrying cliche comic-book type bad guy, a character who does not know what they do is evil and feels it is all for the greater good. He is slightly a tragic monster raised and molded from childhood to be an instrument to carry out the orders of his elders, not knowing any better at all. Just because one is pure of heart does not mean you are a good person, often it is not the case at all. Without a doubt he is a villan that is hard to sum up in such few words, feel free to expand his backstory and personality as you wish.......

^ Aw yiss. Bravo to you for crafting a wonderful villain, as well as being one of the first people on here I've seen to realize this stuff.

Dang, forgot to list his ACTUAL personality and stuff....
Growing up secluded behind the walls of the Order, Templar was only aloud to read certain scrolls and books approved by his mentors. They constantly scared him with the fear that certain books or scrolls would corrupt his soul and cause deamons to pocess him, thus even now he has a deathly fear of accidentally even being tempted to read certain texts. The same story goes for many other such things from hobbies to even food, with him constantly being brain washed by their indoctrination that many certain things will turn you instantly evil. As such, his greatest phobia revolves around becoming "corrupted" by the outside world himself. Being largely niave to the outside world, he is often almost very childlike in some ways and is sometimes too easy to trust. He constantly has a major black-and-white complex, often assuming that only the truelly evil would even think of lying or other faults.

Originally I was going to make the pseudo-religous imagery and symbols more blatent, but I heavily toned it down. Often times people go straight to cliche winged angels or Western monothestic imagery for inspiration, but I heavily tried using East-Asian sources as ideas. The Zen Buddist and Hindu iconitry were particularly strong inspirstions for his asthetic designs and wardrobe. As I REALLY should note, his character is IN NO MEANS a "take that" to any real dogma, relgion, creed, or other walk of life.

Ooh, very nice! A lovely design followed by an amazing backstory! I have a feeling that he and Andromedus (a character I got a while ago but never mentioned before, oops) would get along well. (Or not well, I suppose. /XD)

That's a well thought out back story!
