Request: Tempo613 by HowlingZero

As a huge #mecha and #Gundam fan, this was more of a personal challenge than a request. "Redesign the Burning Gundam." Well, Destiny and Try Fighters did it better, but here's my try. If you know Japanese mecha well, you'll notice it looks a lot like Yanase's work (Xenoblade X, Eureka Seven, Valvrave, Gundam 00). The Xenoblade Direct yesterday inspired me, mmmmmm... So good...

....Wheres the burning finger?... It looks pretty cool. Idk much about gundam, but to me that looks like official art of the early work! Well done, maybe this should've been a #passyourdrive thing xD

Bruh, who needs a Burning Finger when you've got your Palma Fiocina or your Ryusei Rasen Ken?

Oh yeah, this reminds me... I just got a tasty Sinanju model today. I have to build that.
*drool*

:D....Ok (<---Knows (howling)0 about gundam) I've been interested in seeing models of those things. The closest thing to a model thingy is a boat my dad got me at mexico. So...LUCKY :0

I find myself being proud of very few things, but I take great pride in my knowledge of Gundam.
I was at a Japanese hobby shop today helping my mom carry a bunch of old books to sell, and I was just listing off all the mobile suit names off in my head with a huge grin on my face.
It's soooo my jam. :)

Right on dude, I'm the exact same with DBZ and pokemon xD It's cool you got a shop like that near you. The closest thing i have is a tokyo store about 2 cities over at a mall. Although i got a rad DBZ wall scroll so theres a plus. So if i were to tell you any you'd know the design and pilot and jazz like that?

I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by saying yes, but I know most of 'em.
Although, there's way to many variants of the GM, and a lot of them look the same, so those kinda throw me off.

I like seeing these robots around every so'n'so.
Nice!!

(In most games, i get shot down easily. :P)

How about....Big-Zam? :D

HowlingZero

12 Apr, 2015, 6:21 am

Oh please, too easy.
Pilot: Dan Avida-- I mean, Dozle Zabi
It's a big ol' green, monoeye crab-like Mobile Armor used in Solomon during the One-Year War. It has funky chicken legs. In the chest it has a large megaparticle cannon with smaller beam guns around its perimeter.
I remember there was this really funny scene where it wasted a whole megaparticle shot on a single Ball.

12 Apr, 2015, 6:23 am

Speaking of, how about Ball? (Yeah most of my knowledge is from grumps)

HowlingZero

12 Apr, 2015, 6:32 am

Well, the Ball's mostly piloted by nameless cannon fodder since it's a grunt suit, but Shiro Amada (one of my favorite characters) uses one in the first fight of 08th MS Team to fight a Zaku II who was attacking his damaged comrade. He goes down in history as the only pilot to do anything cool in a Ball.
But later he upgrades to the Ground Type Gundam and the EZ8 and proceeds to do more badass shiz.

Wow that sounds pretty rad lol. How about the GP-04 Gerbera?

HowlingZero

12 Apr, 2015, 6:40 am

Gerbera... Hmmm I know the Gerbera Tetra which is used by Cima in Stardust Memory, but the GP model number makes me think it's a Gundam...
Sounds like it's from the same series as the Zephyrantes, Physilis, and Dendrobrium, so it must be some photo novel side story prototype. *shrug*
You got me. :/

Geez dude you're a master of gundam lore! I'm impressed!

my bro's more into gundam than me. ; w ; i have trouble getting into mecha anime (but patlabor was an exception, somehow)

HowlingZero

12 Apr, 2015, 6:51 am

Yeah, a lot of people aren't into the whole war genre, it's understandable. All I know about Patlabor is that Okawara does the mechanical designs, so everything looks like a cooler Jegan.

I'm into shows like Ghost in the shell, so i'm sure i'd like gundam. I just haven't gotten to it xD

HowlingZero

12 Apr, 2015, 7:01 am

Well, Gundam's weird. Some, like Seed, 00, and AGE, you can just watch off the bat and be fine. But a lot of other cool ones like Unicorn, War in the Pocket, 08th MS Team, and Stardust Memory require you to at least watch the original, which to be honest is really bad and old.
Then there's goofy, sentai stuff like G Gundam which is totally different from the rest of the series, and Build Fighters which is just about the plastic models (it's actually awesome though).
So it can be a kinda intimidating and confusing series to get into.

Dude, i can watch Haruhi Suzumia's Endless 8 and understand the movies plot! I can handle anythung! >:D

Avoid G Gundam. Just... Avoid G Gundam.

@HowlingZero
Dude... Dude... You freaking STREAMLINED it! Much smoother and tighter looking than the original. Love how you underplayed features like the shoulders and the... Helm spikes? It looks like it's be so much more agile.

Shading's AWESOME, so is the color. Good job on the symmetry. Not perfect, but doing that right on Mecha seems to be @Gary!'s special talent... This sort of thing is exactly why I don't draw anyone/thing "straight-on." But you did good.
Sooooo bueno.
Also, Beam Katana > Burning Finger.

Never forget G gundam back in the day, its probably my favorite gundam series from then, burning gundam is basically my favorite gundam too. I approve of this.
