Using a non-black colour makes the outline look smoother. I like it.
Another old character from The Sprites' Shards. MachLeaf here was a fusion of the following Pokemon:
Blaziken, Sky-Forme Shaymin, Absol, and Garchomp.

The only time I use different coloured outlines is when drawing a character who's completely black.
But I like this, it looks pretty nice.
