Kaiserthermen - Roman Bath by Splotch

From life, refined later. This also was painted on my bike trip to Trier (travelogue in the forum: http://forum.brombra.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=849). This are the ruins of the eastern front of the roman bath.

Did you draw it live? :)

Thanks! @crisurdiales: yep. I painted ~50% on spot and finished the rest at home.

rad! wish there was something in there to give scale to the scene- it looks monumental. Im sure youve answered this question before, but how are you dealing with sunlight- just a shady spot?

I really love your drawings, especially as I know most of the plaes you drow, and I truly love them too... :)

Thank you both! @ENB: I thought about adding some people, don´t know why I decided not to do it. Here´s a links to a photo showing the scale: http://www.welterbe-trier.de/uploads/pics/TR_Kaiserthermen_innen.jpg
The sunlight is in fact the biggest problem. A shady spot with as few ambient light as possible is mandatory. I also use a protection foil on my DS which reduces protection a bit. But sometimes painting really is a blind flight, for example I totally messed up the colors of my porta nigra painting and needed to correct it later. I sadly haven´t got a completely satisfying solution for this.

Yeah, this must have been a swine to sketch in that sunlight, but the results are certainly worth it. Dig the subtle beams of light. Not too overt. Just right. :)
