kai grew up being hatched by his big bro, who was a megaseadramon at the time...he was raised by his brother who evolved into that shark digimon there, surfymon. as kai grew and was raised...he reached the form surfymon also, much to his brothers surprise...eventually kai asked why he and his brother stay in this lake (the lake near pyro and wolf's home). and he said that megaseadramon should naturally evolve into metalseadramon...it was rare for one to evolve into surfymon, and a rare mega digimon like them would get hunted down for the data they possesed...kai understood and stayed in the lake with his older brother, he loved spending time with his brother and couldnt think of anything to make him happier. eventually some other digimon found out about their location and kai was captured...but in the last second his brother got kai out and let him escape as he fought their enemy, kai's brother put up a good fight but eventually lost, but kai saw his brother smiling at him as he was..

...taken away, kai remembered his brother expressed that all he wanted was for kai to grow up and be safe which devestaded kai and he blamed himself for not being strong enough, after which he spent his next 8 years (he was 9 at the time he lost his brother) living alone and in hiding in the secret cave under the lake which he and his brother called home, although it didnt feel like home anymore since he wasnt with kai anymore. kai was able to sense it...his brother is dead...he died protecting kai, and kai couldnt forgive himself for losing his brother, whom he loved and cared for deeply. he coukdnt trust anyone because hes scared...eventually he was discovered by pyro, wolf, and gaol...and seeing the blackwargreymon gaol, he saw his brother for some reason...he was hurt seeing that but gaol was as kind as his own brother was to him. kai slowly began to trust him...yet hes scared still...one day if he'll lose them...like his big brother...he keeps this picture and a shark tooth that..
