what you mean is that you used another picture in the background as a reference, that's not the same as 'tracing'. To trace a picture means that you create it in a 3d program, with a 3d model in an environment made up by 3d models, like furniture or what ever you chose, then use one or more lightsources to illuminate the model(s) in a 'raytrace' render. Trace comes from the word 'raytrace', which means that the computer software traces where the light comes from, where it hits the 3d model and reflects into the virtual camera lens in the program. this is not what you did, you drew over a reference image in the background. It's two completely different things. Consult Google about 'raytrace' for more info about 'tracing'
