She and her father(?) lived as servants in a duchess's home, and she was friends with the duchess's daughter Laventa. When her parents died, the duchess adopted her. She's legally considered nobility, which some nobles hate, including her new extended family.
Laventa and some others were attacked, and only Xante survived. She decided to become a knight.
Nerissa's love interest.
