Okay, @Fadinglory made an excellent point about the wings, so I now present you with this.
A feathery plume above the long segmented tail, Used for attractings mates, assisting with swimming and climbing through trees (balancer), or to make visual threats.
What do you guys think?
What more or less could be added?

Ooh, that'll be so cool! And expanding its feathers during a fight will distract the opponent for a split-second, enough time to strike ;)
