Mermaid Fight by Cyllya
The mermaids in shallow river areas can afford to use some metal gear (although weight and rust are still concerns). The uncivilized ocean folk in the ocean don't even know how to forge metal.
I copied part of the poses from a screen shot of some anime I'm not familiar with.
I'm going to upload the scetch/planning step to my alt account ( @cyllya2) in case anyone wants to see it.

For the rust thing; one way you could use to remove that concern from particular characters, if desired, would be to have them wield a bronze weapon and wear it as armor. Bronze turns green over time, but can't rust. Though, it doesn't retain a sharp edge as well as other metals, and bends easier, it can easily be resharpened, and the bend can be taken out by simply striking against something. Only steel and (especially) iron weapons rust.
