@Shawn: Not all that actually. It was just a case of getting it perfect in the sketch, then using it as a guide when doing the colour. Normally I'd start colouring the face/hair first, but I want to get the t-shirt design nailed. After that, it was just a case of colouring behind the numbers and shading that blue base, then copying the flow of shadow onto the numbers then combining the two.
