Nintendo shut down Flipnote for monetary reasons? Of course they did.
They are first and foremost a -corporation-

I remember getting internet acess on my DS for the first time in mid-summer twenty-twelve. Colors was one of the first things I downloaded. Soon an account was made. It's gone now, but that's where it begun.

The point is that the second I've heard and got acess to Flipnote, it was already too late.
It's a shame because it was right down my alley.

As a person considering a career in animation, I'll still get FN when I get the chance. Still, this is a personal strike one against Nintendo for me.

If Nintendo's trainwreck doesn't involve me, then I stay far away from details.

Though qualifying for the Ambassador program but never getting it ticked me off, but I couldn't connct it online yet so it was mostly my fault.

There are tons of us who planted our seeds in FN (I am one of them...) and moved to Colors...

When I saw the message about FN closing I was so upset... At the time my mom refused to buy me a 3DS... and I had nothing to do for a few months.

My birthday came around and I got my beautiful 3DS XL that I have now.

Then to download this app to find out that FN3D wasn't coming out for a delayed period of time. I was even more upset...

Now guess what. My mic on my 3DS actually works... knock on wood (unlike my DSi) :c

I totally agree with everything you said and im upset about it too =T I understand japan would get things they made first...but to promise us something then delay for like ever and then give us a half baked version of the one we promised is just unforgiveable. just give us the full 100% FN3D Japan D= Thank you

plus, only making it local wireless would suck so much...I mean why would they even think that would be a good idea.

anyway, done rambling xD I just wish they'd not do this. I understood them cancelling things back when they had that earthquake and it caused lots of problems(I think a nuclear plant fell...not sure...please don't beat me up anyone if im wrong xD) but to just withhold things from us like this is just not cool.

I just hope FN3D will be epic and not what we hear it will be

as much as I love animating, I don't think I'll use the world gallery (b/c of the cost). I'll just practice and make stuff for myself, unless they change their mind about shutting down the friend gallery :V

I'll just use the features that don't require me to pay them... their 'popularity discount' system on the world gallery sounds awful too ugh

and all the money I pay them will add up and the amount will add up to a point where I can actually buy a game

I am with you on this. Obviously Nintendo doesn't care enough about us westernors. Lots of people bought the 3ds for the soul purpose of flipnote. They are being inconsiderate I:U

What I've heard is that Nintendo released FS3D in Japan and put up Flipnote Gallery as an experiment, but took the gallery down due to extreme traffic. The delay of the US release was probably due to technical issues and not wanting to release it without an online feature.
So, no one has Flipnote Gallery at all at the moment. Nintendo had to take down Hatena because they couldn't afford to keep the service up.
