Hhmm.. Well, if there's something you like, that you haven't made fan art for, you could start there. You could also take a photo of something and try to redraw the object ad close to the potograph as possible (That's what I dosometimes) You could also try making a mood type painting using various shades of a single color.
There's lots of things in this world to derive inspiration from.
