They may have because of the artstyle change, who knows.
Don't fret about it though, and don't change for your followers. I get unfollowed nearly every day and I've noticed no changes. They never commented or liked any of my posts, anyway! I'm sure it's the same for you.

I love your new style! The loss of followers could be that inactivity delete accounts stuff. If those people unfollowed you because of your new style you don't need to worry about it. Those people can't tell what awesome art is when they see it and they don't deserve to look upon your art!

Your artstyle is awesome!
But i think the reason is the colors clean up again..School keep people busy and away from their 3ds and they get deleted because of it..I've been losing a lot of followers lately too.. :/
