This has to be the best sky paint i have ever seen it might as well have been a picture taken with a camera. Magnificent detail and attention to lighting and 3D makes this one eye pleasing work of art. Beautiful work.
So I've noticed recently that your use of the tool index had been reduced to using just the eraser, and sometimes just one other tool. Personally, I don't like waiting for that pesky undo button to process XD That's why I stopped using it. and as long as I can see something, I really don't need a top screen reference, because I can readjust the image or object to fit the 3DS, and recreate it almost perfectly. Though I do make originals occasionally.
Is there anything interesting about yourself you're willing to share?
@The Adjudicator: Thanks for your comments! I need to use the eraser to blend the layers for the 3d effect. I don't use the other tools as much for the sake of a more authentic traditional art experience, but that's just my opinion as it applies to my own work. I had to change my button configuration to not include undo because I kept bumping the button on accident. I agree that when using a reference (as in this case), there's not much benefit in using the upper 3ds screen versus just a computer screen or photo.
As for something interesting about myself, I don't know that I am that interesting. If you have a specific question, I would be happy to answer it.
Question: do you make original artwork? For me, I like to be original with a quick google referance here or there (just for the common details), but seriously, your artwork is some of the best I have ever seen. Once I gain more experience, I hope to make artwork this realistic.
@Simeon: I normally don't use too many references, mostly because it seems a bit easier to not have to look back and forth. Other times I try to recreate a photo or scene as closely as possible, which I find helps me paint more realistically from imagination. This painting, although having significance to me personally, can be considered a study of different cloud types. This should help me be able to create more realistic clouds from imagination in the future.
I've never thought about it like that but its so true, you do "study" artwork so that you can draw it freehand more realisticly. Wow that makes so much sense! I'm going to try that
Regarding your reply(s) above: Ah, I see. I didn't have any particular questions in mind, though your reply to @Simeon did explain one curiosity on my mind.
One thing that I would like to point out is that your gallery is full of a spectacular mix of study art and very original, and highly creative paintings that I would classify as "Simply Artistic". It's that kind of thing that makes this online community so intriguing at times.
just reading through comments on here, that's such a good idea with doing the study so you can apply to other paintings. I've never thought of that too much but you are correct and tnat's a great idea. Do you paint with real paints too? oils, acrylic, etc? I've always been better with pencil than with paint
@JJMAwaken: Sorry for the late reply. I paint with acrylics mostly. I decided around age twelve that painting was something I wanted to do with my life. My dad drew with color pencils. For some reason he thought it was easier than painting.
