Oh cool, I used to have a beta when I was young. They may be violent, but they were so cool and pretty looking, so making an alien race based on it actually makes a lot of sense.
Pretty sweet, and having the hair look like those ornate tails was a cool touch.

If you care, The pun is Ray: as in sting or manta ray, and Mariana: as in the mariana trench.

The texture is meant to be like scales.
You should totally get a beta! They're hardy for fish. And they need to be rescued from those sad little cups.

I am sooooooooo glad you like it!!! I love your characters so much, so it was a really fun change of pace to draw them and I think they helped me improve quite a bit! :3 You don't have to draw me anything!! >u< But if you really want to anything is fine.
