OK, here's my advice:
quit thinking in 2d shapes. Don't think like Mr. Game and Watch where him and his body parts slide around on one plain. If you're going to draw something, think of it in terms of 3d shapes. Think "through" it. Think of the top, bottom, sides, front, an back of it. Do not draw a box as a square. Draw a box. Do not draw a ball as a circle. Draw a ball. Think in 3D.
That's all. I might do more of these.
