Majesty of Contrast by Whale Fanatic

Another gold star? For me!? :D
#wc224 Painted to "The Land of Dragons" by Peter Crowley Fantasy Dream. This is perhaps the first time I incorporate the largest cetacean as well as the smallest (the mighty blue whale and the humble harbor porpoise, respectively) into my online works! That isn't all, as this is also the first time I take the weekly challenge.
I was playing around and experimenting with the texture and shading. It isn't perfect, but I'm somewhat pleased. #whale #porpoise #bubbles

Thank you, guys! ^-^
(Ceta) Wow! You think it came out that well? O-O XD And meh, it didn't look angry to me!
(kaythepikachu) Actually, blue whales and other rorquals (fast-swimming baleen whales with grooves) feast on small fish such as capelin, anchovies, or sardines, along with krill, which I'd technically call meat. I get what point you were trying to get across, though. : ) (NorthernBird) I understand why. Because of their immensity, right? Yeah. I'd probably be startled at first myself if I encountered one. Who wouldn't? But don't worry. They are called "gentle giants" for a reason, you know.

Rorquals have grooves on their throats, by the way. XD That sentence in my last comment seemed... incomplete.

I love Peter Crowley's music! :D
And this is absolutely beautiful! The shading and lighting is outstandingly drawn, incredible job! ^u^

Yeah, I'm a little anxious to see how things'll turn out. But, if I don't make it as a runner-up or even as first prize, I still loved creating this. Art's in mah blood! :D

13 Jan, 2015, 2:32 am

Thank you! ^-^ XD I guess good minds think alike.
(KaythePikachu) It's actually a harbor porpoise, the world's smallest member of the order Cetacea ( a taxonomic group consisting of whales, dolphins, and porpoises). A blue whale calf would be much, much larger than that little guy! They can be up to 22 feet long when they're born and already weigh more than an elephant! :D

still it's a very nice and well done drawing i love the cool shade of colors i can't stand really bright colors like neon green orange and pink

Whale Fanatic

13 Jan, 2015, 1:14 pm

Yeah, I often prefer realistic coloring over neon, but there are some exceptions. A lot of my favorite species of fish are tropical, vibrant specimens. ^-^

Whale Fanatic

14 Jan, 2015, 1:27 pm

That's alright. ^-^ There were quite a few amazing paintings that deserved it as well! :D

Strap-toothed whales have been one of my fave odontocetes since I was ten! :D I really love all cetaceans, especially those that are unique and weird-looking. I don't know why, but I just adore strange animals in general! x3 I'm weird that way.

16 Jan, 2015, 1:37 pm

Oh, how I adore invertebrates! Cephalopods, nudibranchs, gastropods, bivalves, echinoderms, cnidarians, aeolids, all of them! :D

Also, yeah, potassium ought to help!

Whale Fanatic

17 Jan, 2015, 6:20 am

Oh, those are two clades of invertebrates. Both may include some sea snails and sea slugs, such as the flamingo tongue snail or the Glaucus atlanticus ( this species has a ton of names).

Whale Fanatic

17 Jan, 2015, 7:28 pm

Yeah, it's obvious. cx There's one other member of the genus Glaucidae known as glaucus marginatus.
Yep, at least he'll have that and a wholphin bro to talk to! xD

Whale Fanatic

17 Jan, 2015, 10:22 pm

I think that'd be good.

Oh, goody! :3 I totally won't miss out on it this time!

18 Jan, 2015, 2:08 pm

I meant to just insert Soul's ma.te in the pod only because the group is overrun with females and not allow two entries per member. I thought about that too.

Well, in that case, I'd better read up on that last RP.
