-HISTORY
The Keinu species has been around for millenia; almost as long as life has existed on Earth. The population was originally very small, with few Keinus spawning or being born. But when they came to learn about their capabilities the numbers began to grow as each Keinu discovered their own battle tactics and defense. The population swelled in around 1340, but had rapidly declined afterwards due to being hunted by humans. But now they're at a steady population, so it's all good. We cool.

-LOCATION
Keinus traditionally live in Germany and it's surrounding countries, due to it being their homeland for centuries. But in recent decades, they have been spreading out to cover more distance, stretching to become a species appearing on every continent. However, most Keinus live in the traditional homeland, and usually have German names.

-TIMED LIFESPANS
There are two ways a Keinu can be brought into existence. Keinus can reproduce naturally, or just kind of poof into being. Keinus that are born have timed lifespans. This means that eventually they will die, and have no way to stop it or slow it down. (Moortje is one such example.) Keinus who are born often do not know their parents, and must live alone unless they find another Keinu to hang around with. However, Keinus with timed lifespans still live very long, often to around 4,000 or so years of age. But no Keinu, born or spawned, can be k.illed by anything else than their Obscurity. (We're gonna get to that)

- CONTROLLED LIFESPANS
Keinus that poof into existence have controlled lifespans, which means they only die on certain conditions. For example, Eigengrau will die if he allows himself enough physical injury to bleach his entire body white. Until that happens, he can live as long as he wants. Keinus with this type of lifespan take up around 30 percent of the population. Unlike Keinus with timed lifespans, they have no parents and are generally more in-tune with their abilities.

- ABSTRACTIONS
Every Keinu has a special ability called their Abstraction. A Keinu can manipulate it easily, and if they manipulate it right, can accomplish many tasks. No two Keinus have the same abstraction.
Technically, every Keinu is simply a manifestation of something in the world. Eigengrau is the manifestation of the color seen in perfect darkness, Moortje is the representation of night blindness and the ringing you sometimes hear in your ear. /Each Keinu represents something you don't think about in daily life./ Do you think about that strange ringing a lot? No? Thought so.
Some Keinus (most are those with timed lifespans) have two Abstractions, although it is very rare. They typically die faster, because they have two Obscurities eating away at them.

- OBSCURITIES
Here's the interesting part. As a Keinu lives, there is a part of them that is evil and dangerous. This part is their Obscurity, sprung from their Abstraction. When a Keinu dies, their soul is eaten by their Obscurity, which uses the empty body as a vessel to bring destruction. The body decays after a certain amount of time, (different with every Keinu) and the Obscurity fades.
HOWEVER. The Obscurity has a presence in the Keinu's daily life as well. If a Keinu overuses their Abstraction, the Obscurity in them may possess the body for a while as the Keinu's soul has no choice but to rest. While the Obscurity is in charge, they are a threat to anyone in close proximity. The only thing that changes when an Obscurity is in charge is the Keinu's eyes, which faintly glow.
Keinus with timed lifespans die from their Obscurity continuously eating away at them, while those with controlled lives having their souls engulfed last-second.

- ESOTERIC FORM
Long ago, when Keinus were hunted and slain very commonly, they realized they could mask themselves as humans to avoid being ki.lled. Now, every Keinu has the ability to manifest a human appearance, which they cannot change. They're stuck with their appearance, like us. A Keinu can't stay in their Esoteric form forever, though. As they practice, they can often stay like that for longer, but not for their entire lives.

- FUN FACTS YAY
-Every Keinu with the same sort of Abstraction are technically related. (i.e those with fire-themed Abstractions are related, etc.) That's how Moortje and Eigengrau are related, they're both shadow/dark themed Keinus.
-When a Keinu dies and their body fully decays, a Keinu is spawned into existence to take the Abstraction the now-dead Keinu had. Kinda like reincarnation.
-Keinus are often extremely intelligent, and can learn multiple languages. (Well-developed vocal chords, yo!)
-A Keinu's Obscurity completely overtakes the soul and body after a Keinu's death, making them nearly unrecognizable.
-A Keinu's Obscurity is what ki.lls them, and usually does not use the same method when taking a "reincarnated" Keinu's life.
-The Keinus with two Abstractions die twice as fast, housing two Obscurities. So when their soul is taken, the two Obscurities often duel over who gets the body. Ironically, the body usually decays before the Obscurities cease.

Re: hate wasnt quite the right word, in the moment i couldnt think of a better one... but it is how it is. especially for such a great artist like shark with many followers (and the monsterous concept is such a draw for me tbh). try not to feel bitter about it, considering that atlan is one of the few shark has drawn. id count that as something special.

also i had a supernumerary phantom limb moment when i could feel my wings. My left one felt like it was crushed tho and oW.
Sometimes i feel em however and get paranoid in my uniform because my wings hurt hh
