Re: Well, once basic concept with both mythologies is that we ourselves contain God's power. (In shamanic culture it's just known as the power of creation.)

This power is contained in the reproductive organs. The male's are known as the channel and the woman's as the gateway.

This can be seen as reference in FMA by the Portals. With the Truth being the channel and the Portal being the gateway.

So, by knowing this, it means that Ed and Al could never get their bodies back through Alchemy. Because what Truth doesn't take it away, but actually makes it so those parts of them were never born.

By destroying the bond between Truth and the Portal (giving up your alchemy) you are giving up the whim of creation. And any past dealings become null and void. Hence the return of their bodies.

This also means any future whims of creation can never happen as well. Meaning that the Elric brothers can now never have children. Nor can their attempts of finding new alchemy ever bear fruit.
