So let me tell ya...
I began playing pkmn x and i wonder traded a bunch of weak pokemon. Eventually I got a japanese lvl 1 Shuppet. I battles and raised it to lvl 38. So...it evolved. I played pokemon amie with it and i raised its affection level to the max. I was at the 4th gym and I started off with Banette. When I selected an attack, it said "banette wont obey orders! , "banette is loafing around" and "Banette hurt itself in confusion!" (continued in comments)
