The clouds are close. The lines on the mountains seem okay.

Firstly, the linework.

The lines should be thick in the middle and faded or thin at one end. Simulate using inked lines.

When creating animals or people, focus less on details and more on the subject's form. Details are good here and there. But too much gives it a less accurate appearance.

(When an artist would finish the linework, they would write what they're painting in the corner. Japanese writing goes vertically and lines going from right to left.)

As for painting, coloring.

There should be no shading at all. Colors should be bold and dark. Not bright and vivid.

They would not add inner detail, like you did with the grass and water.

What you did with the clouds seems fine. However two of them would be out of place.

The Japanese would place balance in their artwork. Any space not filled by the subject would have background. The two clouds above your OCs head can't be there.

You can find many paintings to study.

If you have ACNL, I can gladly show you...

...all the Japanese paintings in the exhibit. I believe I have them all.
