I'm a bad mun as well. At least 6 or so of my OCs are dead in some way, some will die tragically, and some have sad and lonely backstories. :)

Re: 130 including animals. P much 8 percent or so of my total OC count is human/humanoid. The rest is animalistic.

My first officially humanoid OC was probably one of my fantrolls. Pretty sure it was Karane. But my first non-fanOC was Vue, I think. I needa draw her more. Technically Taiyara is also a first, but she was my first Touhou fanOC. (I've had OCs that I designed as animals at first, but were supposed to be human. The only thing stopping them from actually being human was the fact that at the time of making them I couldn't draw humans. Sutera and Runa are great examples of this.)

You can take a break with drawing Jace, I don't mind.

You can make a character and be original, it takes as much thought with them as any other type of character. There are certainly restrictions in some fancharacter designs for things, such as Homestuck and fantrolls, but Touhou is a very open plane in the way of fanOCs. The Touhou characters live in Gensokyo. "And what is Gensokyo, if not a land of fantasy?" As long as your OC has a good color palette and reasonable powers, you're fine. But, don't the guidelines with Touhou suit any character creation, regardless of whether it is a fanOC or not?

I don't play it either. I want to, but I share a computer with my brother. And he's v picky about what can and cannot be put on the PC.
It's shooting as in danmaku. Search up images of danmaku on Google and you'll see some of what happens in Touhou.

There's always the PC98 music. And since the Touhou fandom absolutely LOVES remixing ZUN's works, there's bound to be a ton of electronic variations of songs. And I'm sure you'd find some original Touhou music that tickles your fancy.

Ah, I was roving Youtube and stumbled across the overrated and overhyped Bad Apple!! remix. I was curious, and eventually found out about the actual, non-remixed Touhou music. I researched and found a Youtuber who did Let's Plays of Touhou, and watched each one chronologically. I read up on the characters and dug around the fandom. I got caught up, and memorized at least 3/4ths of the whole Touhou series' music. And now, here I am, a complete Touhou nerd with a gay crush on Mononobe no Futo, and praising the glory of Suwako Moriya.

Re: It is glorious indeed. ZUN tends to favor trumpets in quite a few themes, however. ^^' The ZUNpets are a running gag in the fandom.
Look up Konngara's theme called "Swordsman of a Distant Star" sometime, as well as "Strawberry Crisis!!" and "Complete Darkness". Those three are my favorite PC98 gems.
