I think Altan would be a freshwater siren. Living in rivers and freshwater lakes, not capable of withstanding salt water. It's kinda defective, but not. Altan can swim and is a mediocre singer at best, but it doesn't have very developed fins (it prefers to conceal them because it's on land more than in water) like the other sirens you have and is freshwater.
The story of its getting cursed was accidental. The wizard was by his tower window messing with his siren-cursing powers because he was a derp and fu cked up. The siren-curse-ey magic went out the window and subsequently hit Altan who was walking on the sidewalk below. The wizard looked out and was like "Well, sh it." And henceforth, Altan just had to deal with it.
