basically ed gets stabbed through the chest by envy (his half brother) and dies in front of alphonse
alphonse freaks and sacrifices himself to bring ed back but ed kinda "nope"s and then gives himself up to get alphonses body back
(also roy gets shot in the eye)
then it turns out that when alphonse gets his body back hes still 10 and doesnt remember everything him and ed went through and goes on to search for ed who is missing
ed, it turns out, is on the other side of the gate in germany around WWII and is currently there with hohenheim, trapped basically never to see his family and friends again
then CoS happens and basically tears for the whole family bc al gets roped into it too and roy gets PTSD and winry is left alone

Re: Yeah, I do as well, but they're still not as refined. They've got some attributes down, (the subspecies has a society of sorts revolving around socks, one species is nomadic, another loses its ability to speak over time, etc.)
