Phantasma is only a young Pokemon bred by his Trainer back in the Johto Region, The Pokemon that mostly looked after him was a male Espeon named Psy.
When Phantasma was hatched, he was traded off to another Pokemon trainer named Cienna, even though he has only seen Psy once, he still remembers the warmth that Psy gave when he was still an egg.
3 and half years have passed and Phantasma has been reiunited with Psy whom was being traded all over the place. Both Pokemon now resides in Cienna's secret base as its gaurds. When Phantasma used to live in Cienna's PC, his been surrounded by doting older Ghost type Pokemon whom each wanted to be called big sister by the younger ghost type, i guess that's the reason he has mellowed down and became bashful than ever...he did develop a fierce personality if anyone trespassed Cienna's secret base.
