A boy climbs up a set of stone stairs. He knows he is outside because he can feel the wind blowing behind him; carrying the sound of the old, creaking trees of the forest that circled the area.
The boy couldn't remember why he was there, but he did know that he had to get to the top of the stairs. Something was there, something important, something he needed.

The sky was a deep blue as the boy looked up, but it had a surreal feeling to it. The edges of his vision were blurred black. His clothes were torn and ripped and his arm was wrapped with a bandage; it was lightly stained with a red liquid. He had been in a battle of sorts, or, so it seemed. The boy couldn't remember.

Soon, the boy reached the top. There, waiting for him, was a tall and slender woman. She had pale skin, bright green eyes, and long, straight, and dark hair. She wore a black robe. In one hand she held a black staff topped with a smooth round gem.
The boy knew her name.

"Maleficent," the boy muttered.

Maleficent smiled evilly, showing her sharp teeth; teeth that resembled a dragon's. "Hello Erik."

Her voice was intimidating. You could sense the evil that inhabited her, but it wasn't her. It was some other sort of evil, an evil of vanity, of disgusting pride. It wasn't Maleficent, but Maleficent under orders of a higher evil.

The boy sensed this evil, and he realized, he was here to end Maleficent. He pulled a golden hilt off of his back and light began to gather around it, forming the silver blade.

"Ah ah," Maleficent hissed. "don't be naughty." She raised her staff and the gem on top shone brightly like a star. Then it released a huge burst of light and it shot towards the boy.

The boy deflected it with the blade of his sword and it went hurdling into the forest. It crashed a caused a large orange and crimson explosion, thus in turn, causing fire to spread rapidly around both the boy and Maleficent.

The battle began.

Maleficent walked to the edge of the tower they stood on.
"You burned my forest!" She screeched. She tightened her grip on her staff and the gem began to glow again. She quickly spun around and launched another burst of green light at the boy. The boy quickly dove out of the way, causing the light to strike the stairs. An explosion of blue and green flames tore the stairs apart, throwing flaming stone chunks everywhere.

The boy, after avoiding Maleficent's attack, charged swiftly towards her. He attempted to quickly unleash a chain of slashes with his sword, but Maleficent blocked each attack and parried the last attack. She then spun her staff and forced the boy's sword out of his hand, then she struck him in the stomach with her staff, sending him backwards.
He slid towards the edge of the tower and barely stopped himself from falling off. He looked back up at Maleficent, but it was Maleficent no longer.

Now there stood a huge black dragon.

"You are a pest, boy," Maleficent hissed. Sparks flew out of her mouth as she began to ignite a flame. "and you will be dealt with as such."
She raised her head, shooting flames into the now darkened sky. She looked down and the green eyes glowed brightly in contrast to the red flame. The boy rolled out of the way of the flames and ran to get away. Maleficent was not finished with the boy, though.

Maleficent jumped onto her hind legs, raising her front legs into the air. She smashed her tail into the boy, causing him to be pinned down onto his back.
"Die now!" She screamed and tried to come down onto the boy. The boy screamed and turned his head, but then he saw his sword within reach.
Within a split second, the boy grabbed his sword, the light formed the blade, and as Maleficent came down upon the boy, he thrust the sword into her chest.

Maleficent screamed and roared and hissed as she reeled back in pain. She shot flames into the air as she thrashed, and she also lifted her tail off of the boy.
The boy struggled to his feet and began to back away as he watches Maleficent. She thrashes uncontollably, getting closer and closer to the edge of the tower, until she finally rolls right off.
The boy lets out a sigh of relief and turns around. Maleficent stares him right in the face.

"I will not die today!" She grabs him and flings him off the tower.

As he falls, his mind goes blank. The ground was getting closer and closer and the boy could feel his legs go numb with fear. He closed his eyes and as he reached the ground...

He woke up. He shot straight up, breathing heavily. He had been dream.ing. It was just a dream. Just a dream...

But it felt so real...
