The centre area was littered with blood. Four bodies were scattered near the stack of crimson splattered chests which weren't fully looted, but no one was going to dare go near for a while. Carina Alester backed up against the main body of the tree she'd climbed. She couldn't believe what was happening. The game master had made it quite clear. There were only two ways any of them would be leaving this place. Win or die. Carina shook her head at the thought. No. There had to be some other way. All she had to do was live long enough to find it. Standing up straight, Carina made her way to the chest across from her. As she grabbed the iron latch, she flinched, hearing another blast from the cannon. Lifting the heavy lid she found a chain chestplate, a stone sword and some food. "Alright not bad. At least now I'm armed" she thought and slipped the armour over her head. Using some vines she attached the sword to her back and started climbing down. When she was about half way, she stopped, suddenly hearing quick footsteps. They were doubled. Someone was being chased. Carefully standing on a branch, Carina looked down. There was a person running past, struggling to pick up speed. He had a large gash in his side that left a crimson trail behind him as he ran. Hot on his tail were two people. Carina recognised them instantly. Ant and Bodil. They had teamed up and were now chasing down the player.
Carina didn't dare to move. Suddenly the man tripped and fell, landing hard on the forest floor. Blood started running from his torn knees. He rolled over and started backing away on his hands and elbows as his pursuers approached, both with weapons in hand. Wide eyed, Carina watched in horror. "Please! Don't do this!" the man pleaded. Ant and Bodil exchanged grim glances, then Ant stepped forward. "Only one of us is leaving this place. Alive. I'm sorry" he said, his tone flat. He advanced. "N-" the man was cut off. Blood streamed down from the slit in his throat. The cannon went off.
Ant backed away, the tip of his sword dripping red. He stared at it, not blinking once. Bodil came forward and placed a hand on Ant's shoulder, bringing him out of his bloody trance. "Let's go" Bodil told him in a thick Bulgarian accent. Ant nodded and both began to walk away, deeper into the woods. Carina had torn her eyes away from the scene. She felt sick, her head spun. Crack
The sound echoed through her head. The branch was splitting. Before she could do a thing, the wood snapped. Carina cried out in surprise as she plummeted to the forest floor. There was a loud clang as her sword and armoured back hit the ground, knocking the wind out of her. "What was that?" Ant asked, looking back. Bodil looked back as well before both turned and advanced. Carina's eyes widened as she quickly sat up and started backing away. "W-wait!" she exclaimed, raising a hand in defence. Bodil and Ant slowed their pace, but said nothing. They planned to make this like the last one. Quick.
"You don't have to do this!" Carina continued, backing into the tree.
"Yes we do. You saw what happened if we refuse to fight" Bodil answered, his voice shaking a little. "N-no! There must be another way! Something! Anything!" Carina shot back, her desperation rising with each step the duo took. Ant shook his head. "There isn't. We're sorry but there's no other way" he told her. Carina tried tearing the sword from her back, but with no avail. The vines were tangled around it and held the weapon firmly in place. Ant still had his sword withdrawn. He pulled his hand back and prepared to swing right down into Carina's head. There was a cry of pain.
Ant dropped his sword. An arrow was piercing the back of his shoulder. Bodil spun around, searching for their attacker, but was met by another arrow. It hit his arm. Blood ran from it as he staggered back. Ant looked over at his teammate as he tried pulling the arrow out, his face twisted with pain. The arrow wouldn't budge. Ant stopped pulling as at least three more arrows were sent flying at the pair. Neither could find their attacker. "Let's go!" Bodil exclaimed to Ant who nodded. With that they both turned and ran. Carina struggled to stand. She finally managed to get her sword free. Looking around wildly she scanned the tree line for the archer. "Carina?" asked a voice.
Carina looked to see a familiar face peering out from behind a tree. It was E.

Carina Alester backed up against the main body of the tree she'd climbed. She couldn't believe what was happening.

Win or die.
