Gosh, it just all seems surreal. I mean it doesn't really feel like she's gone. Besides it happening so suddenly, I wonder if it is because we are keeping her memory around that it feels like she is still here. But, you are right, the best thing we can do for her is keep her memory alive. She 'gave' you one of her accounts, didn't she? Perhaps we should put up a memorial picture of her or something of the sort.

It isn't so much as a concept as it is an 'actual' thing. In D&D, Lichs sacrifice their humanity so as to live forever; however, their souls become trapped in a phylactery and their bodies begin to decay until they are basically just animated bones D: They are usually pretty evilz, too! What you had said about the trade for power and such just reminded me of it >w<
