Jade suddenly hit something. It was flat, hard, rough and cold. A wall. She took a step back and spun around to take in her surroundings. She was in an old alleyway.. It was an unfamiliar place to her, even though she's lived in this town for so long.. Deep in her thoughts as she tried to figure out how she got there and where she had to go next, Jade didn't notice the soft creak of a door being opened behind her. But her attention quickly shifted to the startling sound of a deep, raspy voice.
"'ey preh-y ladey" the words were slurred almost beyond comprehension. Jade made a sudden spin on her heels only to come face to face with a tall, overweight, bearded man.
"Watcha doin inna puhlace like dis?" the man reeked of beer and sweat. He took a step forward, Jade took a step back. She soon came in contact again with the grey brick wall. The sound of her heavy breathing echoed in the alleyway as she clenched her sweaty fists and prepared to speak.

"I-I'm s-sorry but I n-need to go now" she stuttered, fear in her eyes. She watched the expression on the man's face change suddenly and a hand flew up. Jade stiffened her shoulders and squeezed her eyes shut as hard as she could as she braced for impact.. but.. nothing happened. For a moment she felt a small breeze, and she opened her eyes. Standing infront of her was a boy. He was small and skinny and dressed in black and grey. His back was to her and he held his arm out as if protecting her. Then her gaze shifted to the man that moments before was preparing to hit her. He was now standing montionless, a look of pure terror on his face as he stared at the boy. His feet shifted and he suddenly let out a muffled yelp as he scurried back into what Jade assumed was his appartment.
The door shut, and silence returned. Jade let out a breath she had been holding for God knows how long, and she collapsed onto the damp cement ground..
