I usually just use one color throughout (so no shading for that or gradient) however, I do use a lighter shade of the base (the color used for the nebulae) when adding details and wherever it would make sense, just scribble lines (usually near the center of the color rather than the faded parts on the edges). It makes it look as though there are star clusters within the nebulae :3

You shouldn't let it bother you so much. I know it is super aggravating but the sooner you forget about it- the better you will feel. Just realize that if it ever bothers you to an obscene amount (to the point you just can't handle it), know that there are plenty of people ready to back you up. (me included!) No one but her xD Lana for life! (Ok, I like Fi but to be honest, I never tried out any of the 'side characters' from the main story. I just couldn't stop playing Lana every oportunity I had) To be fair though, I loooovveee her fighting style. It feels fluent and yet super hard hitting. I am so concerned for Mayu as well. I really hope everything goes well but then again, she is such a strong-willed person that I'm sure she will pull through. We just have to trust in her and be patient in addition to being prepared for the possibilities.
