Pain and Fear by psych-resonance

She ran.
The Satori was terrified. She was in pain. Her eye floated close, wide open. Blood dripped from where her arm used to be. The sheer pain from it being severed was still fresh in the girl's mind. Meanwhile, the mob of villagers chased in hot pursuit. The Satori didn't know why they were so angry at her. She had only read the minds of the humans and spoke about their thoughts. /Are humans really this hateful? How can they live with themselves, being this cruel?!/

Wheezing, the Satori wove through the trees. She hoped to lose the humans in the forest and find a safe place to hide. She heard their thoughts as she fled. Some were horrid, thinking about how to fully dispose of the "youkai scum" they pursued. Others weren't as v!olent, only wanting to give chase until the Satori was far away. Either way, the girl had to escape. Tho.rny plants snagged at her clothes, tearing the skirt of her dress. Finally, she lost the human villagers in the woods, their angry voices dying away. She stopped behind a tree to catch her breath. Clutching at her severed arm, the girl nearly fainted. The Satori staggered forward, but didn't make it far until she passed out in a heap on the ground.

After a few minutes, a raven with a silver necklace fluttered down to inspect the unconscious Satori. It tilted its head numerous ways, then reappeared as its true form of a He.ll Raven. The Raven nudged the Satori with her foot. She grumbled to herself when the Satori didn't respond, but flinched when she spotted the girl's stump for an arm. She only uttered two words before bending down and slinging the handicapped girl over her shoulder.
"Holy sh!t."
Carrying the Satori, the H.ell Raven traveled to the entrance of her home in Former H.ell. She set the Satori down in a raggedy bed and took a closer look at the Satori's wound. Grabbing some bandages from a dusty cabinet, the Raven cleaned and wrapped up the stump. After that, she plunked herself into a chair by the bed.

After a few hours, the Satori stirred and weakly opened her eyes. The He.ll Raven was asleep in her chair, and the Satori wondered how she survived, much less woke up in a stranger's home. Wriggling to adjust her third eye's position, she stared up at the ceiling.
The Raven's chair slid slightly, and she jerked awake.
"!!! ...Oh, so you're up." She stood up and stretched. "How're you feeling?"
The Satori noticed that the H.ell Raven didn't have wings, rather, she had lines of feathers sprouting up the sides of her arms.
"...Fine. Missing an arm, obviously...."
"Well, that can't be helped. At least I managed to wrap up that stump of yours." She gestured to the wrappings on the Satori's arm. "What's your name...?"
The Satori blinked slowly, as did her third eye. "I'm Yoimiru Tsuikangae. Nice to meet you, Hinetsu Karagu."
Hinetsu jumped back when Yoimiru said her name, and Yoimiru knew precisely why. "I'm a Satori, reading minds is my thing."

"Oh. Yeah. Gotcha." Hinetsu said. "So, how'd you lose your arm and collapse in the surface world's woods?"
Yoimiru sighed. Fighting to sit up, she sat with her legs cr.iss-crossed and let her third eye float close by. "I went to this human village." She slowly stretched the eyelids of her third eye wide open, trying to read Hinetsu's thoughts. "Humans don't like my kind, I should have recognized that as soon as I entered. I heard some thoughts, said some things I shouldn't have. Some human chopped my arm off in rage, I'm pretty sure he was also drunk. His thoughts were muddled." Yoimiru read Hinetsu's thoughts, which were of pitying Yoimiru. The Satori continued. "The villagers were even more upset when I tried to reason with them and defend myself. Soon they had me running for my life. I escaped them, passed out, and then you found me."
"Ouch. Humans suck."
"They do indeed."
