I always press play to watch the pictures creation and here I 'm speachless! The way you start and then found the inspiration is very interesting. Drawing the snow is so difficult but you can do it so simply. Very good.
Hi buck 7, thanks for the comment much appreciated, the question of my scribbling :) ill do this a lot when painting from imagination, firstly it gives me texture to lay washes over which can have some interesting results, but just as important it will help kickstart my imagination, my daughter asked me to paint her the narnia lampost in the woods, so I started by scribbling in the texture with winter in mind, no plans just texturing the canvas, I'll keep on with this and I'll start to see pictures and my scribbling becomes less random, then my imagination starts to kick in, it's a bit crazy I suppose lol but it works for me and I find it an exciting way to paint, :)
Hi otaner 72, thank you for the comment, yeah as I've stated on my last comment I see a lot of things in scribble lol, only ref I used here was for the narnia lampost the rest was from imagination, I finished this painting whilst on a weeks break in snowdonia, sat on a balcony in woodlands being bitten by midges lol, great for inspiration though :)
Nice subtle contrast between textured and smooth. Extra love from me because the style of the lamp post is very reminiscent of the one my late grandmother had at the end of her drive. It was a genuine early Victorian one that was retained when the roads and bungalows were built. I used to swing on that thing like it was my bitch, when I was young! :D
Cheers, yeah they are beautiful lamposts, I bet you would have got a thick ear if she had caught you doing that hehe, I had almost finished painting lucy leaning against it which gave it a nice sense of scale which I still have saved but my daughter said she wanted the lampost on it own with no figure :( oh well she's the boss :)
Oh, boy. I only have two nieces, and they kick my ass whenever it's my time to entertain them. One of your own... now that's serious. You better buck your ideas up, mate, and only paint a figure (if you are inclined to) behind her back, and never show her... at least until she's 25 and can get over the betrayal, hehehe. I like the idea, and it would work so well with red clothing. Ridinghood? Doesn't have to be.
Haha my daughter passed 25 a while ago now mate she is a school teacher, although still a kid at heart, since a child she has been mad on the lion the witch and the wardrobe, only to be fuelled by the narnia films:) I like the idea of a girl in a red cloak, would look great in the snow I may give that a try :)
How many times can I hit that "Like" button. I was transported to Narnia as soon as I saw the thumbnail. Such artistry, really in the end I don't have words, I have feelings. Your work always feels fantastic.
