He got lost in the woods during winter. It was so cold he couldn't move well. He was tired and drowsy. Some people were near and he could hear them reveling, so he tried to scream for help. His efforts were futile, his screams weren't enough to cut through the noises of the party. He tried to get up, but his legs were frozen. He died alone, a bitter and cold death. He uses a lantern now to guide the souls of those who got lost to afterlife. If someone ever finds him, they'll find their own end.
