The comics are basically supposed to show the experiences in-game, but they have been known to expand in narrative and story. The comic can be anything, as long as it shows certain events accurately.

I kinda hate the second-chance rule, as it can just take away the danger. I can understand it though, but I would say only keep it til' you get at most a third into the game.
BTW in my comic, there are no second chances. Not even for Freya.
And somthing to keep in mind-if a Pokemon faints, you don't HAVE to ki.ll it in the comic, you can simply find another reason for them to pernamately leave the team.
