#HonestyHour #7 Being Cis by #HonestyHour

#HonestyHour #7 Being Cis is not a horrible thing, just like It's not wrong to be Trans or Gay Or Bi. So why do some of you guys hate us? Just becuase we were born in the body we are comfortable with doesn't mean you can be harsh to us. I know there are some straight peeps who make fun of you who weren't born in the correct body but don't sink to their level and group us all together and then bullying us. Even though there are barely any of you who do #Cis #Trans #LGBT #Emo #Depressed #Tumblr

Bully the cis in Here there are many who do bully us on Tumblr. I know it sounds petty but before it gets out of hand we need to shut down the peeps who are doing that. It doesn't matter what kind of bullying it is any bullying is unacceptable. So if you have a tumblr please shut down any posts that are #Cisshet #Cish.it #Cishet or anything like that. Especially if you are Trans please let these people know that what they are doing isn't the correct way to deal with the ignorance if people. And no they aren't bullying people who bully them...they bully the innocent who don't even know what a Cis person is and that are unaware of it. I mezn honestly you can't expect them to know everything about the LGBT community. So please....help. They are on Tumblr, we need an #ArmyAgainstAllHate

You raise a good point but there is almost too few of these scenerio's to matter. Hate is hate, bulling is bulling. Physical, mental, cyber, racial, its all the same as far as i'm concerned. In my opinion a better point to touch on is the respect factor about this particular hate war. In all honesty, there really isn't any gay people who hate straights, not entirly, but still. Most gay people want respect for being who they are, they want respect for there views and opinions on the topic. However, utterly failing to show any respect to people who disagree with their views. Now I know that could have offended some people, I know not all gay people are like that, full and well. But my opinion stays the same: I respect who you are, not what you are. And there's a little something I say about respect. If you want it, give it.

For those confused about cisgendered (as I was), it's the opposite of transgendered. Basically, rather than calling everyone else "normal", which I understand transgendered people could be offended by, since the opposite of normal is abnormal (though I'd argue we're all abnormal...). But hating people for being different than you is the exact same form of bigotry that they should be fighting. Now, I don't have a tumblr account, so I'd like to think this doesn't reflect most people there and that they generally try to be more understanding. After all, how can you ask for something you're not willing to give?

@SS: Yep. Cis would be everyone who's not trans, so most people. Cisgendered means identifying as the gender you were told at birth. For example, the doctor says "It's a girl" and you feel like a girl. Transgendered people on the other hand identify as a different gender than their bodies. Of course, then you can get into genderfluid and gender nonbinary for those who don't identify as one gender or interse.x/hermapherdites (those born with both parts). Though I'm not an expert, so I could be wrong about some details.

@HH: It could be that many humans have a desire to label things as part of our language building skills. For example, as infants, we are shown things and told what they are called (house, sad, run). We might never stop wanting to learn, so creating labels may just be our way to keep learning and identifying things we don't know. After all, labels are words and words form language, something we all spent a lot of time learning. It's a possibility anyway.

^ok
hmm......interesting point of view......

I didn't mean to imply that I'm promoting the use of labels. In fact, I made a painting a while back where the word "You" appears as the absence between labels. I was just considering possible reasons why humans use them. In order to eliminate something, you must first know its cause, otherwise it's like cutting a we.ed at the top rather than finding its roots so it won't just grow back.

^ (to a few commentors)
by calling Cis a group instead of a type of person, and distrusting the group, you are ignorant.

Also, distrusting someone because someone else of the same description hurt you isn't okay.

It's like saying 'an Indian doctor misdiagnosed my mom. Therefor, I don't trust anyone who is Indian.'

or,

'A Christian beat up my Athiest friend. Therefor, they are insensitive and I hate Christains.'

This, here, is exactly why there's so much hate in the world. We use labels (which don't show the content of a person's character or soul) to associate entire groups to a certain evil.

So, just cut it out. Talk to people. Make friends with different types of people. Learn that people aren't what they're portrayed to be, especially by others.

Don't waste the humanity you were given. Your lucky to have morality at all :/ Try using it for something good.

it's not ignorance, it is for trans people's safety to be suspicious of cis people. as someone who has not lived as a trans individual, you have no right to discuss their experiences. i suggest you listen to them instead of trying to speak over them.

trans people's lives are literally put at risk everyday because of cis people and are probably the most at-risk minority group in the United States (i cant comment on other countries because i don't have the knowledge on it). trans people are at huge risk of murder, suicide, r*pe, and brutality because of cis people. sorry, but this isn't a simple case of stereotyping, it is a case of survival, and most trans people choose to be weary of cis people for SURVIVAL.

@puppies

So bullying is a joke to you? Alright then. So if saying 'Down with cis' is a joke, then I can say 'Down with trans.' It's just a joke!!
