Depends on what type of 'mon you want to train. It's typically best to balance out with types, stats, strategies, abilities, and moves.
For example, if I wanted to use a Cinccino; a normal type with high speed, decent attack, but somewhat lacking in defense, it'd probably be best to balance that out with something that's more of a wall, possibly a ghost type for imunity to any fighting types that Ciccino's weak to, like, say Spiritomb for example. Then find what Spiritomb's lacking in, or weak to, and balance that out with another 'mon. A good, diverse team like that can really give you an edge in battle. o3o'
