The laid-back but smart choose Bulbasaur due to the first 2 gym leaders. The cautious but determined choose Squirtle. The bold, daring, yet forgetful choose Charmander, unaware of the massive challwnge they have just thrown in front of them.

Pick Charmander, duh. May present a challenge for the first two gyms. But you would most likely be catching pokemon and training them. Especially Pikachu since you can get it, rarely, in Vermillion forest. Which would come in handy when battling Misty.

Not anymore it ain't! personaly, I always chose the one that matches the version colour, but that only applys to Gen1.

oh and would you pokemon fans believe that I have Green? as in for gameboy in japanese unhacked? I got one halfway through 2OII but had corroded connecter pins, and I got a working cart for christmas! and before you say anything, IT'S REAL!

the difficulty curve is steeper in this version only though, so unless you're a collecter, it's quite a hard game unlike rest of 1st gen. can be found on ebay (rarely) or more easily found in second hand stores.

I know, I couldn't believe they make you make the biggest decision ever before you even really start the game! I chose Squirtle my first time, but now I always go grass-type. And then, Gary would always pick the one that trumps yours, so at first I thought I was always picking the wrong one.

It's not that hard all you have to do is find out which one is the fire one and pick it XD
