Luckily, this user DID give credit to the original artist, so its not as bad as other users who just steal.
but yes, tracing is frowned upon if youre not really learning anything and putting what youve learned to use to create original art. Im sure this user didnt go ask our dear artist pikarar for permission, but at LEAST they put her name on there.

Um, you think I'm going to like it if you ask and it's traced? Don't think so. And yes, there is something wrong with tracing other peoples art, infact, everything about it is wrong, especially if you don't credit the original artist. I've had my art stolen and traced before and it's not 'okay' so shut up and get a life. -.-

and mlpmaymay tracing is wrong...unless....yoou get permission and credit but they did give credit so its more okay than if they didnt.
