Book and Story Ideas by Larka

So anyways I recently got an old blank papyrus-paged book with a reed cover. I'd like to use it to write a story and now I'm trying to figure out some good ideas. I have yet to figure out the plot, characters, setting, or genre. I'm having major writters' block and need your help, serious give me any ideas you have. I really want to do either a science-fiction, horror, or fantasy story. Perhaps the story's theme should tie-in with the old book itself?

(Continued) So anyways, I already have one somewhat rough idea down: it involves a somewhat cliche plot of a group that hunts monsters, ghosts, and other dark entities that go bump in the night. Then again, perhaps I should go with something more unique. As for character ideas and stuff, I don't care if its humans, aliens, critters, anthros, machines, or whatever as long as it makes sense to the story and setting. Seriously, I'd like any suggestions or ideas you might have, especially from those of you whom are working on your own stories.

Comment Below please, and thanks for the input!

Hmm... I'm pretty difficult at coming up with ideas on the spot. Maybe you could have a somewhat goofy team that needs to keep saving their home from supernatural beings, with a bunch of secrets hidden in the story about what's really happening.

Hmm... That sounds a little bit like Gravity Falls or something. but yeh...

Well, as long as we're on the subject of supernatural stuff, I'll suggest throwing in some mystery and/or a sense of the unknown, to add depth.

Golems. You know, beings existing completely because of magic. Um... maybe the book is one of their journals, or perhaps the journal of their creator, which is whom they're trying to find. I don't know. I've just never read a book where golems are the main characters.
