Either way this looks wonderful! Bte a tip with water try looking at the art of artists who know how to water and create a style from there :D
Or just do the top half of the character in your case and the rest as under water shadows, btw they have to be smaller than the obove water half :)
If you want a tutorial i'm thinking about doing a few.
