Seems that most people on the internet think that all of these aquatic salamanders from south of the border are totally pale. In reality they look more like standard mud-puppies and waterdogs in the wild, the albino ones are only typically found in pet shops. I purposefully did the one on the right as derpy as possible.... #axolotl #salamander #albino #amphibian #mexico

I actually have a local pet store that sells axolotls sometimes, usually in a black, often greenish color. They really are interesting creatures. I hear they have some wicked cool regeneration abilities to, to the point where they could potentially borrow vital body parts. That's just cool.

Albino axolotls are naturally found in the wild, though most are laboratory born.

And they are only native to 1 lake. In Mexico.
