DarthTofu... the secret is... zoom in, zoom in, zoom in, and paint, and erase with the most little hard brush...and "try" to count the pixels (litle squares)to make "almost" perfect squares...and thats it!!!
Do people actually use the x4 zoom (iphone or DS)? I understand with something sprite/pixel based like this that it would come in useful, but seriously; who's using x4 zoom on a regular basis while painting other stuff? 0_o
Munin... i use it a lot, when im doing eyes... the detail in the iris and vains most be with x4 zoom...take a look at "mask" eyes... that couldnt be done whitout x4 zoom.
I also use it a lot and sometimes even try to zoom in more. Mostly because I have the feeling that pixels appear not exactly where I tip the touchscreen but a bit right from there...
I do not want to turn this into a long debate under Alan's paint, but I have to ask: If you are zooming in often to correct those little nuances (again, I see the importance with getting those crisp lines in this case), then just how much time, on average, are some of you spending on a painting - the more rendered ones, that is? It must be over 2 hours! :O
Munin, that's right. Some of my paintings took me largely over one hour and I've sure spend four or more hours on the cuteapple-to-zombie painting. Sometimes I spent a lot of time on one datail to get it right, because the painting often looks different when viewed on the computer
Munin...no problem... lets talk under my paint... :)... its an nice topic, my average time are 7 hours... some times more like the joker (13-14) ...sometimes insanely more, like the girl of the exorcist(23-28 hours)but that was an special case, because that was very dificult and was my drawing number two, in colors... thats why i could not finish it well... but my average time 6-7 hours... like Zeitwolf, i spent hours (a lot) detailing and detailing till i cant detail no more! hahaha...
@Zeitwolf: I know what you mean about paints looking different when you upload them. I usually paint with my DS when I'm away from home and my Wacom, so I just tend to plug in and upload. Do you check paints on your PC and then adjust before uploading? Thant's an interesting thought and something I did not consider. Maybe sometimes it's worth adding a few strokes before you upload.
@Alan: Holy shit. 7+ hours? Are you insane?! :D My eyes couldn't take it after an hour when I did a recent paint. I had to walk away! Are we talking about maybe 3-4 hours in one sitting at a time? Even that makes me faint. I have no qualms working in PS or Painter for 6+ hours, but on such a small screen as i-phone/DS... 0_o Do you work in PS or Painter, or other program? I'd love to see your work... you too Zeitwolf! I still say you two are nuts hahaha... but I love your work! :D
Munin... do you have facebook? give me a friend request... im Alan piña castillo... my photo is a zombie i made by myself in photoshop...there is some work i made for some brands(not too much drawing but some advertising art work... im an art director). i will feel happy if you see it!
...and yes...sometimes i got 4-5 hours in one sitting at a time and beliveme ... it hurts...
One more thing... have you experienced cut off time with playback? I know it works on strokes but surely you are making lots of strokes in that time. Is it based of free memory or something? Maybe I should Q the boss men.
Munin... i did not understood the last comment "One more thing... "have you experienced cut off time with playback..."
... Im from México city... English is not my native lenguaje... sorry!!! :(
do you mean that if there is a memory or time limit in the playback on the iphone??? answer is... no.
... in at least 2o hours i spent in the exorcist girl, nothing happens... :)
@Alan: Do not apologise for your English. You write better English than most native speakers. What I mean is, have you experienced problems with the "playback" feature stopping before a painting is finished? I understood that there was a memory limit with regards to recording brush strokes. As for Wacom, I don't think a plug in is viable, but it is not needed and goes against the whole point of a DS/I-phone "pocket" paint program. I sometimes use my wacom pen to paint if I remember to take it with me. I like the extra counter weight in my hand.
I want to try a stylus a pogo or what ever...in my iphone... does it work right??? its easier? what have the POGO STYLUS in "pro" of others??? they are the same isn it?
Isnt it ironic??? i spent a lot of hours and extra effort, drawing "reagan teresa macneil" That i think is ALMOST photographic (at least 20 hours of eye time hahaha) and it have ONLY one comment!!!!!!!!!!! the drawing of jack "whats this"...is one of my favorites and only have one or two comments... --- but i draw a SIMPLE, Pixel mushroom ...(2 hours)and VOILA !!! a lot of comments AND 65 STARS IN TWO DAYS!!!---- like malcoms in the midle song says... life is unfair!!!! hahahahaha!!! aaaaany way, enjoy my mushroom!!! :) :) :)
