boutta sound like a hypocrite but i've been thinking..
why do people draw self harm scars permantly on their oc ??
i removed mine awhile ago bc it seemed like a cry for attention.. idk thinking about it i think it's kinda ridiculous and unnecassary.. like why draw those when you could have pretty designs ??
idk i've been questioning this stuff a lot lately and i'm pretty much out of that *drawing scars all over my ocs all of the time* phase..
it's kinda silly.
like why??

I always thought that people who used to do that irl but don't anymore, depending on how badly they did it, /their/ scars would still be there. And those who have come to terms with whatever was hurting them or realized they shouldn't do that, some of them might be alright with the scars, as a reminder. Either not to do it again or of the things they've overcome.
Those who just draw them on their character to make them 'look cool' or whatever are stupid and should not do that. But I always thought that those who have a real reason, and are drawing them on their own representation of themselves, i think that's okay. Maybe a reminder, a sign of strength.
As long as their not promoting self harm or doing it just to look cool.
I respected when you drew it, i didn't know whether you did it irl or not but either way i thought you had a reason for drawing it. I also think it's good that you stopped drawing it, maybe you too came to terms with something.

I have no actual experience with self harm myself, other than knowing about a friend in high school who used to do it, then couldn't even wear shorts because of her scars.
I don't think it's a good idea at all, but i am a naturally simpathetic person and i think i understand to some degree why people do it and what they may be going through and why they feel that this is the only thing they can do. So when i see a character with scars on them i take into concideration what they could stand for and what the artist could have gone through and why they drew them. I just hope that they aren't just doing it cuz it' 'cool' for whatever reason. Cuz that's /really/ bad.

i draw them on one of my personas because it is my current self and its a reminder in a sense cause if you forget ur past ur doomed to repeat it and its a big part of my life that im trying to get over so yeah
