(FIXED) Here I discuss the paradox which is pseudo-furries, media and people which appear to be "furry" but it's not. Please keep all comments PG, thank you
-Note: I have nothing on certain furries, only the BAD ones.

THANK YOU FOR THIS. I personally don't identify with the furry fandom because: A. Not all anthropomorphic things have fur. B. I enjoy putting science behind my anthros and not just having them exist 'because'. C. Mine are more realistic in style and markings.

Ah, yeah. I think I share the feelings expressed by this, as well. I like and dislike things about most fandoms, really, even though I will admit to liking or at least respecting the material.

...I'm confused.
I read that any animal given anthropomorphic qualities can be considered a 'furry', so...are they wrong? Do my cartoon characters qualify, or are they just basic cartoon animals?
I suppose if I'm so clueless about it, I'm not a furry, am I? XD

@Taojat: It's really complicated really, with different labels and jargon being thrown around and used. I suppose definitions only really truelly apply when you want them too apply, weird is it not. Then again, some people define "furry" as an animal with a human-like body, so I suppose most of your chracters would be considered "feral". #feral

I hate the i.nappropriate stuff too! I'm not a furry, but I'm okay with furry media as long as it isn't the bad (bad as in ina.ppropriate) kind.

I enjoy drawing anthro animals and writing (appropriate) stories featuring my anthro animal ocs (im pretty sure my tag for my ocs is mostly anthro characters but that story with the anthros is so long and has so many characters.....) i have a fursona but i never really use her for anything and when i draw myself, i draw pretty much exactly how i look irl.
i suppose i'm a furry but i dont see how the label is such a big deal. i hope people wouldnt treat me differently because i draw humanized animals sometimes. that's just low.
i honestly dont understand how people make 'coming out' as a furry such a big deal....like, your parents aren't going to look down on you because you draw cartoon animals that resemble humans... unless you show them a folder full in inappropro lol.
i'm not really into'furry' media besides lapfox trax and video games like starfox n' stuff
also i dont like inappropriate furry art/stories/whatever
that is a nono

Hmmmm, I don't know anything about "furries" (except from the basic no-to-be-trusted-entirely-knowledge you can see on forums etc.), but I think I understand what you mean.
It's annoying to always be "classified" into some random community (it can be furry, pokefan, goth, emo, geek, or even baroque-music lover, or whatever :D), just because it's easier to judge you and make an idea about your personnality and taste.
As you said, some people take what they like when they like it, not identifying to anything special. Others prefer to follow a whole philosophy linked to the way they look. But in any case, people can do what they want (as they don't hurt anybody of course), those who insult them following a hasty judgement or because they disagree are just... Not as bright as they probably think, and should be ignored. ^^
There are a lot of scientific articles in Universities (sociology, philosophy, game studies etc), which explore the question of image and community. (...)

You should take a look if you're interested about it, they bring new informations and some thinkable elements!
Anyway, I was just here to tell you I posted 2/3 of your requests, the last one will come soon I hope! :p

Just because a person draws anthropomorphic creatures of any kind, it does NOT make them a furry. Just because a person draws anthropomorphic nsfw, guess what? DOES NOT automatically make them a furry.
It's just like if a person believes in God; It's doesn't automatically make them Catholic. (no I did not just turn it into a religious discussion, this is called "parallelism")
And, for chrissake, if a person draws p0rn just freaking ignore it. ARTISTS on the INTERNET have the freedom to draw whatever we want. Looking at it isn't going to make it magically disappear. Jeez, grow up. On the INTERNET you have the power to CLOSE THE WINDOW. Just leave NSFW artists be, good grief.
Sick of feeling like a freaking criminal for drawing NSFW. It's not like we sell it to children in Highlight's magazines. What is wrong with you people?
