This was the first drawing I made using the Colors!3D app (click #rrlandscape to see the original). I redid the right half of the painting to show what a difference patience makes. You might think I magically became artistically gifted, but the leaves and grass are just different colored paint spots and strokes. The real magic here is patience. Don't give up on your art! Instead, discover where patience can take you. :D
Also, click #rrhtia to see how time improves art. :3

It takes a bit more than patience to do that, it takes understanding of how things such as lightsources work.
But my, such improvement! You've come a long way RR. ^^

Wow! That's really cool!
I know you probably don't know me or hear from me often... but I was wondering about something. Is there some way I can get my followers to notice my art? I've wondered this for a while, and I hope I came to the right person.

Thats the one painting that isnt mine. The 20 rupy.
I did a painting swap with my friend secretly to shock people because our styles are so different. Just to see their reaction.
I'm telling you because you gave me too much praise, Its making me feel guilty. I also suck with realism, but thats mainly because I've never wanted to try, im not interested in the style. I like making art that looks like a painting. Not a photo.
The things I listed that people needed to grow were the things that I needed & more, I just grew very fast (two or three years) & struggled alot.

Very nice Rogue, and you're so right about taking your time and being patient! I can see the diff in my own drawings from when I first started here on Colors to now....BIG difference! (unless I'm just doodling, which I like doin sometimes if I don't have alot of "spare" time, lol)
Anyway, I'm still learning my way around Colors, You're not alone woth BFZ, I've been leaving my advice also, just please don't ever think I'm steppin on your toes;) You always leave great advice ;) ttyl, hagd!

That... Is very nice & kind of you, thank you.
I do have trouble liking my art, and very often I can only like it for a short time till depression takes over & I cant tell flaw from finished. Perfectionism is also to blame.
I would actually very much like to help you improve, but dont quite know how without being there in person, when people learn & improve with art they also learn & improve with their mentallity & how they handle art, they grow inside, learn lessons, & its those aqquired art lessons that we are able to share with others to also help them grow. I've seen many tutorials on how to draw certain things, but I've rarely seen tutorials that share how to grow & learn on your own.
07 Jul, 2014, 8:36 pm
& when I say rarely I mean like once (your tutorial that speaks of growing with time & practice being the only one. & time isnt even the only thing you need to grow.)

Thanks for the comment :D I noticed @Asphalt (not current username) gave you a birthday shout-out recently, so I figured you had one recently. I meant to go to the people I shouted out to, to let them I that I mentioned them, but I've just been soo busy... Anyway, Love this truthful painting, and hope you had a good one ^-^
07 Jul, 2014, 8:44 pm
you haved improved a lot!!
08 Jul, 2014, 2:31 am
Not so much. The road to improvement depends on the kind of wall in the way that restrains you, people who are naturally gifted are just people without any wall in the way, and if you're very aware of the inside then you recognize it better.
You will use less time the easier it gets of course.
One of the biggest restraints when it comes to art is fear, little frustrations, hardly noticed. Especially ones that are trying to control and perfect everything, fears that "Have to have accurate paintings" "Dont like spending so much time struggling with details" "drawing things correctly." can make it more difficult & also slow you down, it makes you tense. And tensing restrains flow.
I reccommend loosening up & being open to other ways of drawing, regarding people & structure, not all people are built the same, and its extremely rare for people to be actually symmetrical. Though you may have a specific style in mind like realism, abstract could be the easier way. Or even actual sculpting.

When it comes to shading, textures, I like looking at real life, light bounces around, so does color, you can see it in the world around you. You can study your own body, or look at ones on the internet, when drawing clothes study how the fabric isnt perfectly flat, its crinkled depending on your body type, there are creases and wrinkles from movement & depending on the light it casts shadows in different ways. Its never the same, and everythings full of variation. Watch playbacks of all kinds. Question why people draw certain ways, try to understand their direction, realize that in paintings they too are struggling, theyre feeling while they paint, theres alot of internal struggles as well. Depending on the person.
There is no wrong way to paint, and your worst critic are your own perfecting insecurities. Let them go.
