For the weekly contest. About 2 hours. It was fun not using the control pressure for the opacity! If you don't know who Chuck Close is, google him immediately.
i just clicked "all paintings" and there it was-- i don't usually browse the front page as much as i do "all paintings." :) and you're welcome, i just speak the truth though.
I must be the one to give you your fifth star, as I was waiting to see a little latter day Pointillism. Coincidentally, one of my profs was the subject of one of Close's large scale acrylics back in the 70's. (their both good friends.) Amazing when you realize Close is quadriplegic. Good job!
wow guys thanks for your comments! Critiques are also welcome btw.
A.Tree - cool story! Is there a picture of that painting online somewhere?
zhanghaibin - I AM a girl ;P not as cute as the other contestants though - ha ha!
Get ready to laugh. This was the prof. He was one of the people featured in the Chuck Close documentary. He's a good painter in his own right....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chuck_Close_1.jpg.
Damn it. I forgot to reply to this and throw stars! This is wonderful and my person favourite entry so far. It'll take something supreme to knock you off my top spot. Good job!
boreal boy - thanks! I think the playback is actually pretty fun to watch xD
A.Tree - I did laugh a little! I hope my appearance doesn't seem too crazy 40 years from now...
Munin - thanks for your star, next contest you really gotta enter :-)
@Zeitwolf: I've already expressed how much I love your entry and how close it was regarding my personal choice. You did great. @Jaswinger: You know the score as far as I am concerned with this paint. This is superb and my personal favourite. It's executed so well and clearly marks the artist on which it is after. I think someone said on the forum about wanting to adopt this style but was unsure if the program (and culprit) could pull it off. Nice to see you throw down some different sparks rather than fine rendering. Go get 'em girl (boy?).

I was crossing my fingers for you! (also, because I, philistine that I am, didn't know Close before and I'm glad you turned my attention to him!)

Edit: If you are male then your features obviously lend very well to your feminine side with regards to a self portrait in a Close style! ;)

@munin: I am a girl. Technically a woman. Just for the record. And thanks for the support :-)
03 Jul, 2009, 4:06 am
@zeitwolf: well you did the same for me, I recognized Mucha's style but didn't know his name before :-)
