^I would love to live in a place where these dreaded things are outlawed, They look pretty. But they make so much noise when one man just wants to sleep.

I second this. Some of us have work in the freaking morning!
Also, fireworks have a bit of irony to them: 4th of July is often associated with our militaries' soldiers/veterans; well many of them suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from being in combat. Fireworks, which probably sound a lot like artillary fire, can trigger memories of combat, causing them to become physically ill or even paranoid/delirious .

So what many might think of being a celeibatory gesture of freedom, actually stesses out some of those who defended that freedom.

Of course those with PTSD will probably avoid areas with fireworks during the 4th, but its those ones in town people fire the weeks before and after the 4th that probably catch them off guard.

Also like Lofty said, fire hazards are a big threat. I live in a heavily forested area where things get really dry this time of year, and all it takes is one moron to decide lighting a dozen bottle rockets into a dry pile of leaves is a good idea, to set the whole place a blaze.

Call me the Ebanizer Scrooge of the 4th of July, but celebrating the anniversary of our nations founding by being as obnoxious as possible just seems off to me.

Sorry for the rant, this is a good post to get this opinion out of my system lol.
