You wanted someone to explain FR to you, so since I'm addicted, I figured I'd step up :3
Flight Rising is very similar to Neopets, but with dragons and breeding and such. You start off with 1 of 4 breeds of dragons (Fae, Mirror, Tundra, or Guardian), who's colors you get to decide. You're given a second, randomized dragon of the opposite dragon. You're suppose to breed these two dragons. Once that's all said and done, there's a ton of other things to do. Forums to chat on, a Coliseum to battle in, an aution house, games...it's just very fun to me and lots of others :D
